PROJECT 401 FUNDRAISER DANCE PARTY
May 28 | 2-8pm
The Cornerstone Complex
24 Maple st. Pawtucket, RI

What to Expect
On Saturday, May 28th, 2022 from 2-8 pm, the Corner Stone Complex will present Hip Hop for Social Change, curated by Project 401. This event puts a focus on how the art of Hip Hop not only has huge cultural importance but how a dance form that grew out of the inner-city culture can help advance social change and healing. This multi-faceted experience will feature local and national artists. Here is a great opportunity for Individual artists and Organizations to Network, meet the team, and learn about what we will be doing this summer!
We hope to raise $5,000 so that we can continue our effort to provide free summer programming. Food will be provided and will feature Black and Latino soul foods. Drinks and other beverages will be available for purchase at the Cornerstone Complex bar. Along with great music all day by our guest Deejays. Join our efforts to raise money to provide free summer programming for the youth!
Education
Hip Hop has always been a catalyst for spreading awareness on social issues. Hip Hop for Social Change focuses on the artistic, educational and social justice roots of Hip Hop elements to help unify communities and generations. We unveil pieces of truth, resistance, empowerment, and self-determination through the skills of Hip Hop culture, activating communities and artists towards action, healing, and progress.
"We are a culture of action, through our art forms and community interaction, knowledge, and sharing.” - Asia Yu Quick
Live Art
Graff-themed details evoke the spirit of '80s activism when the fight against AIDS began and paid respect to those who acted during that time. Our decor will reflect the theme with elements such as a glow-in-the-dark graffiti wall and street art-inspired linens, 90s-style block party graphics, and bringing in custom-made large-scale graffiti Pieces that were temporarily attached to the building. We are asking guests to unleash their inner graffiti skills and are encouraged to add something during the Black Book session.
Dance and Expression
Through music, you will experience rhythm and movement from many of our youth and members of our talented dance scene. Bring your dance shoes because it's going to be a party! We are hosting a pot lot 1v 1 Potluck Allstyle dance battle for those who want to compete. The winner takes the winning pot home!
Other activities and raffles will be happening throughout the night.
This year our theme is to focus on social issues related to the local, national and international Hip Hop scene. We will also explore the Latino contributions to the early formation of Hip Hop culture, and explore the many different ways that Latin American
culture is showcased in Hip Hop.
If this is something you can't make you can always DONATE NOW. No amount is too low or too high. You can also donate via CashApp $Project401ri
